## YouTube Integrations: How to Book Video Sponsorships

A YouTube integration is a paid sponsorship segment inside a creator’s video – a pre-roll in the opening seconds, a mid-roll in the middle of the content, or a dedicated video built entirely around your brand. It puts you into long videos that collect views for months instead of vanishing after 24 hours. You pay for expected views, not subscribers. This guide covers which format fits which goal, how CPM pricing and view guarantees work, what goes in the brief, how disclosure and clip rights work, and how to measure results – Shorts included.

### Pre-roll, mid-roll or dedicated video: the three formats

Long-form YouTube has three sponsorship formats – and they differ not only in price but in what they deliver.

- **Pre-roll (30–60 seconds):** sits right after the opening hook, usually within the first two minutes. Almost every viewer sees it because hardly anyone has dropped off yet – but attention is fleeting and seasoned viewers skip.
- **Mid-roll integration (60–120 seconds):** sits mid-content, ideally where it connects to the topic – the supplement in a training vlog, the booking platform in a travel video. Fewer viewers than the pre-roll, but those still watching listen.
- **Dedicated video (8–20 minutes):** the whole video is about your brand: a product test, a challenge, a weekend at your festival. Maximum depth, but the most expensive format – and views often land below the channel average because the title gives the ad away.

From practice: a fitness creator runs your training app as a mid-roll in his “full day of eating”, a fashion brand books the pre-roll in an autumn haul, a festival gets three days in a music creator’s dedicated video. Your goal decides: pre-roll for reach, mid-roll for explanation in context, dedicated video for launches and products people need to see.

### Pricing logic: CPM, view guarantees and what an integration costs

YouTube integrations are paid on expected views, not subscribers. The math: average views of the last 10–20 videos (excluding viral outliers) divided by 1,000, times the CPM – the price per 1,000 views. According to Influencer Marketing Hub (as of August 2026), YouTube sponsorship CPMs frequently fall between $15 and $30, depending on niche, audience geography and demand; 500,000 expected views at a $20 CPM come to roughly $10,000 before add-ons.

Three levers set the final price:

- **Format:** a dedicated video costs significantly more than a mid-roll with the same creator – they give up a full upload slot and risk lower views.
- **View guarantee:** serious creators guarantee a minimum number of views within 30 days. If it’s missed, the usual remedy is a make-good rather than a refund: an extra Short, a community post or a mention in the next video.
- **Rights and exclusivity:** using the integration clip yourself means usage rights with a 20–50% surcharge; a competitor block across several videos is a separate line item.

For context, how we price at creatorhub: mid-tier creators (50,000–250,000 subscribers) charge €1,500–5,000 per post, macro creators (250,000–1 million) €5,000–15,000. On a comparable channel, an integration in a long video tends towards the upper end – far more production goes into it than into a feed post. A fully managed campaign – creator selection, negotiation, reporting – is available as [influencer marketing](https://creatorhub.agency/en/services/influencer-marketing) from €5,000.

### The brief for a YouTube integration

An integration brief differs fundamentally from an Instagram brief: the creator talks freely about your product for 60 to 120 seconds, and that tone decides whether the community keeps watching or skips. So brief talking points, not a script.

What belongs in it:

- **Two or three key messages** – what the product solves, what sets it apart, which offer applies.
- **The transition:** ask the creator to build the bridge from their own content (“Exactly what I’ve been using for three months …”). A hard cut into the ad segment invites viewers to skip.
- **Placement and length:** pre-roll after the hook, never before; mid-roll where it fits the content. Set a length, but leave room.
- **A triple call to action:** link in the description, pinned comment, and a spoken code or memorable address – many viewers watch on a TV or on the go and type later.
- **Mandatory elements and limits:** spoken disclosure, on-screen label, description text – and what must not be promised, such as health claims or price guarantees.

On process: the creator sends talking points before filming, then a rough cut of the integration segment – not the whole video. One round of corrections is standard, two the exception. Allow six to eight weeks from booking to publication; YouTube creators work in fixed rhythms, and the right slot is rarely the next one. How we handle integrations is on our [YouTube marketing](https://creatorhub.agency/en/services/youtube-marketing) page.

### Disclosure on YouTube and clip rights

On YouTube, disclosure works on two levels – and you need both. First, the platform: the creator ticks the paid-promotion box in YouTube Studio, and YouTube shows an “Includes paid promotion” notice for the first ten seconds. [YouTube Help](https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/154235) states this applies to videos and Shorts alike; creators and brands stay responsible for their own country’s disclosure rules.

Second, German law: the [state media authorities’ guideline](https://www.die-medienanstalten.de/service/merkblaetter-und-leitfaeden/leitfaden-werbekennzeichnung-bei-online-medien/) (as of May 2025) requires an ad block inside an editorial video to be announced – by a “Werbung” (advertising) label shown long enough, or a clear spoken announcement. Whoever names discount codes or where to buy is advertising, not sponsoring. The YouTube notice alone is not enough: on 11 March 2026 the Regional Court of Bamberg ruled in a case against YouTube that ten seconds of “Includes paid promotion” without naming the sponsor fail the transparency duty of Article 26 of the Digital Services Act (case 1 HK O 19/25, not yet final). Rule of thumb: a spoken announcement at the start of the segment, a “Werbung” label during the integration, a note in the description. This text is no substitute for legal advice.

On rights: you buy a slot in the creator’s video, not the video. Without a separate agreement you may not upload the clip to your own channel, run it as an ad or embed it on your website. If you want that, negotiate clip rights – segment, channels, period – with a standard 20–50% surcharge on the fee. In return, agree a minimum live period, usually twelve months, in which the video is neither deleted nor unlisted.

### Lifespan: views over months, a push from Shorts

Compared with a story or a TikTok, the difference is lifespan: a story is gone after 24 hours, a reel is barely distributed after a few weeks. A YouTube video collects views through search, the home feed and suggested videos – often for months, for tutorials and tests for years. Your integration is in there every time.

Add reach: according to the ARD/ZDF-Medienstudie 2025, YouTube reaches 72% of Germany’s population aged 14 and over, making it the country’s widest-reaching video platform. Sponsorship in long videos is therefore not just a Gen Z topic.

Two consequences for planning: an integration in a video with search potential (“How to …”, “… review”, “beginner mistakes in …”) works longer than one in a same-day news video. And you evaluate after 30 and 90 days, not after one week – otherwise you systematically underestimate an integration.

Shorts complement this exactly where long videos are weak: the push in the first days. A 30- to 60-second Short pointing to the long video pulls viewers from the Shorts feed into the channel – as an add-on, usually for a fraction of the integration price. The integration itself does not belong in the Short unless you hold the clip rights. What Shorts deliver as a channel of their own is on our [YouTube Shorts](https://creatorhub.agency/en/services/youtube-shorts) page.

### Measurement: tracking links, codes and brand lift

You measure an integration on three levels – and the most important one isn’t the click.

- **Exposure:** ask the creator for YouTube Studio screenshots after 30 and 90 days: views, average view duration and, above all, the audience retention curve. It shows how many viewers were still there at the integration segment and whether they dropped off – a number that can’t be dressed up.
- **Response:** a tracking link with UTM parameters in the description and pinned comment, plus a separate discount code per creator – never the same for two, or no revenue can be attributed. Expect part of the audience to be watching on a TV: what lands there shows up later in search, not in a click.
- **Brand lift:** for awareness goals, what counts is whether more people know and search for you after the video. Compare branded searches in Google Search Console and Google Trends with the two weeks before publication – with long videos that spike is often the clearest effect.

Set goals before booking – views, clicks, codes or branded search – and don’t judge after one week. At creatorhub we manage creators and have run campaigns for brands since 2019; this evaluation is part of our reporting. What we take on is on our [page for businesses](https://creatorhub.agency/en/for-brands).

### How much does a YouTube integration cost?

A YouTube integration is paid on expected views: average views of the last videos divided by 1,000, times the CPM. According to Influencer Marketing Hub, YouTube sponsorship CPMs frequently sit at $15–30 per 1,000 views (as of August 2026); niche, format and rights move the price.

For orientation: mid-tier creators (50,000–250,000 subscribers) charge €1,500–5,000 per post, macro creators (250,000–1 million) €5,000–15,000.

### What’s the difference between an integration and a dedicated video?

An integration is a 30- to 120-second sponsored segment in a video whose topic the creator chooses; a dedicated video is entirely about your brand. The integration reaches the channel’s normal audience and costs less, the dedicated video goes deep, costs far more and often lands below the channel’s average views.

### How do I calculate a YouTuber’s expected views?

You calculate a YouTuber’s expected views from the average of the last 10–20 videos, not the subscriber count. Strip out viral outliers and old videos that have collected views over years, and use the 30-day figure – the window creators guarantee views for.

Ask the creator for a YouTube Studio screenshot showing the views of the last few months.

### Must a YouTube integration be disclosed as advertising?

Yes, a YouTube integration must be disclosed as advertising as soon as any compensation is involved – on two levels: the creator activates the paid-promotion notice in YouTube Studio, and the German media authorities’ guideline additionally requires a disclosure in the video itself: a “Werbung” label on screen or a clear spoken announcement.

The YouTube checkbox alone is not enough: in March 2026 the Regional Court of Bamberg ruled the ten-second notice insufficient in a case against YouTube (not yet final). This text is no substitute for legal advice.

### Can I use the integration clip in my own advertising?

You may use the integration clip in your own advertising only with explicitly agreed clip rights. With an integration you buy a slot in the creator’s video, not the right to reuse the excerpt on your channel, as an ad or on your website.

Settle clip rights before booking – segment, channels, term; a 20–50% surcharge on the fee is standard.

### How long does a YouTube integration generate views?

A YouTube integration generates views for much longer than a post on Instagram or TikTok: a YouTube video often collects views for months through search, the home feed and suggested videos – for tutorials and reviews even years – and the integration runs every time.

Evaluate after 30 and 90 days, and agree a minimum live period, usually twelve months.
